INTERNSHIP AT LANDSCAPER
In my first year doing my MBO education (intermediate level education) in urban design, it was important to work in the field with planting plants doing maintenance on gardens etc. Dienstverlening in het Groen was a landscaping company that was able to host my internship. During my time there I learned to do maintenance on gardens, work with people that are mentally challenged, and the construction of gardens.
INTERNSHIP AT MUNICIPALITY
During my urban design education, I was able to have three internships, two of which were situated at the municipality of Lingewaard in the Netherlands. Within these two internships, I learned how to work within a municipality where there is a lot of political influence and a formal work environment. Focusing on tasks such as citizen participation, urban design and landscaping.
SOUTH AFRICAN & DUTCH COOPERATION
In Autumn 2019 Breda University of Applied Sciences was approached by the Dutch embassy in Cape Town (RSA) for cooperation on local spatial challenges. As a student of International Spatial Development, we got the opportunity to apply and to win a place in this inspiring co-create event.
I was able to spend 2 weeks working on a mobility orientated challenge together with my team existing of students from South Africa and Germany. The cooperation was on interdisciplinary levels and with many cultural differences.
In the future, it is my dream to be able to participate in more projects abroad and be able to work together in different cultures with people from different cultures to solve challenges in the most humane way.
INTERNSHIP AT URBAN DESIGN FACULTY
In Autumn of 2020 I have been able to do an internship at Arcadis in Amersfoort, The internship was within the Landscape architecture department of Arcadis and was mainly focused on Landscape architecture and Urban Design. Within my time at Arcadis I have learned a lot about different programs but especially on working in a large scale Design business.
INTERNSHIP AT ARCHITECT + URBAN PLANNING FIRM
In Spring of 2021 MR.STIR architect + planner has been kindly able to host my internship. During my internship, I have been able to work along with some Urban planning projects and work individually with supervision on a landscape integration project. MR.STIR is a small upcoming architect and urban planning firm in which I have been able to learn more about the organization, digital programs and design thinking.
PART-TIME JUNIOR URBAN DESIGNER
After doing the internship at MR.STIR Architect + planner I was able to start working part-time alongside my final year in university. This gives me the opportunity to learn in the office and in university at the same time. In this way I will gain more experience and insight within urban planning and also architecture before graduating.
